Welcome to the playful world of Villervalla! We make happy clothes for happy children!

Business Idea

Villervalla is all about colour and playfulness, good quality and comfort! It’s about that all childen can wear all colours and that it’s fun to mix and match!

Company Background
The CEO and founder of Villervalla; Hanna Håkansson had been a children's clothing shop owner since 1999 and knew exactly what she thought was missing on the market. A fun, designed unisex-concept that would work well for everyday wear as for party occasions. Combining her own backgrund and a strong will, this all became reality in 2005, when Hanna released her first own Villervalla-collection. Villervalla is Hanna’s own brand where she herself designs and runs two concept stores, an outlet, a webshop and has numerous retailers all over the world (Andorra, Austria, Benelux, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Great Britain, Italy, Norway, Russia, Spain and Switzerland).

Awards

In 2010 Hanna received Dagens Industri’s prestigious Gazelle-award. In 2011 she received the Gazelle-award again, as well as the Ernst & Young-award "Emerging female entrepreneur 2011 in the western region of Sweden” and Veckans Affärer´s award “Årets Superföretag” (Super-company of the year).

Where to find us
Villervalla is based in the picturesque old part of Gothenburg, called Haga. A design/product development studio, an office, an outlet and one of the concept stores are all situated here. Yet another concept store can be found in the Gothenburg city centre (Korsgatan). In March 2012 Villervalla opened a concept store in Hannas hometown Karlshamn, Blekinge. The webshop- and concept-store warehouse is based in Grimmered. Villervalla's staff in Gothenburg staff consists of 17 dedicated employees. The product technician-centre, situated in Växjö along with the retail warehouse, makes sure that our garment fit is perfect. The garment production takes place in selected factories in China and India.

Apart from being eye-catching and comfortable, it is of great importance for us at Villervalla that the clothes are produced with concern for childrens’ health and the environment. Villervalla attends thorough tests with an impartial party to make sure no harmful substances  are used in the production process. We are also very proud of our organic collection. Clothes with minor flaws are sold at our outlet.

At Villervalla we love to help. We donate Villervalla clothes through carefully selected partners. The clothes we donate are left-over clothes from the production process, sample and sales collections, and clothes with minor visual flaws. The clothes are of course intact and fully functional. We cooperate with Great Andoh International School in Ghana, a school and orphanage for children aged 1-18 years. Lions is another partner we work with, and they have helped us donate Villervalla clothes to an orphanage in Jekabpils, Latvia.

In our Villervalla boutiques in Gothenburg we sell Hjärtegryns lovely postcards, on behalf of children with inborn heart failure. Hjärtegryn is a non-profit association started in 2009 by Helena Någård, mother of a child with inborn heart failure. The profit from the sales of the postcards goes directly to the Child and Youth Hospital in Lund, one out of two hospitals in Sweden that performs heart surgery on children. The wonderful kids on the post cards are created by the Swedish designer and illustrator Johanna Lundqvist.
